Pastoral counseling combines psychology and faith. Pastoral counselors are mental healthcare professionals and have associated privileges and responsibilities in the Christian faith. They are also educated and trained in biblical studies and/or theology to offer biblical guidance and assistance. This combination of psychology and faith brings to the sessions hope.
Counseling provided by religious leaders is not equivalent to pastoral counseling because they lack the appropriate training and accreditation required of mental healthcare professionals. Pastoral counseling is not a fit for everyone, but it can be a good option for those seeking psychological counseling that is informed by biblical or theological ideology and teachings.
It's important to make sure your pastoral counselor's beliefs align with your needs. Ask about your counselor's views before beginning counseling, and try a different counselor if they are not a good fit. As a Biblically-based practice, Pastoral Counseling Services (of America), LLC (PCA) holds to the tenants of the Christian Faith as a plumb line for Truth and Practice.

Attending to the needs and issues of hurting people today is complex, and at times overwhelming. As today’s generations search for purpose, meaning, and value, many have experienced a pervasive sense of emptiness and loneliness. And why shouldn’t they? In a world flooded with distresses like divorce, a father's absence, rampant sexual abuse, terrorism, anxiety, and depression, there seems to be an epidemic of escapism through drugs, alcohol, consumerism, sex, violence, and suicide. Yet it is in the darkest times that light shines the brightest. This five-unit course is designed to equip you to help others break through the darkness in their lives. Each unit contains six lessons on DVD, complete with work text and exams. Despite the tension and emptiness, something seems to be happening across America — people are searching for God.

Having lived through the sting of infidelity, divorce, and now remarriage and blended family living, Marvin Robert understands your current dynamics. He has been remarried to Lorraine now for over a dozen years and has two adult children from his previous marriage and a set of twins with Lorraine. Yes, he has walked this tightrope kind of life and can bring some clarity to your world. He understands your needs.
To be completely honest, only about 3 in 10 remarriages succeed. Not great news for those who wish to tie the knot again. Nonetheless, God can rewrite your love story and can bring about a lasting commitment.
Your, Mine and Ours was a cute movie. However, it did indeed reflect the whirlwind of emotions and hardships that blending two families can create. God is able to bring lasting hope, but it does take time to foster this.
